We’re Matthew and Anika, and we’ll be your student ambassadors today. Welcome to campus! You probably heard all this during Orientation, but we know, it’s a lot to take in. Let’s get started!
All you Future Graduates are now officially members of the Hey Books! college community. Welcome.

And we as a University are definitely welcoming to all traditions, so if you can’t come because it’s Rosh Hashanah, or if we just mispronounced that, or you know, whatever, we mean: we only chose that day because there’s no Padres game, so parking right in front is free after 6 pm.
The important thing is: Everyone’s invited. And you don’t have to do anything dangerous or whatever to have a good time. We know we have a reputation as an incredible party bookstore, but the biggest party is just being yourself!

The Wulfeater just opened across the street at 10th Ave Arts Center last night. They say it’s “an interactive musical theater experience that explores the intersections of capitalism, gender, and exploitation, through the fictional world of Cleveland.”
We, however, would call it “A sexy Brechtian nightmare of Cabaret soundtracked by Iggy Pop and set in 22nd century Cleveland.”
Either way, bring your parents! To Cleveland! Say “heybooks” for 10% off tickets.
They’re not all “officially licensed” by the “Office of the Chancellor” or whatever, but you might like them.

The Quad is a great place to hang or just chill while cramming for finals.
Hey Books! will be there with a table for the first day, then just shopping and eating with Burn All Books and Particle FM for day two. It’s also where any care packages from home get checked in; every First Year gets their own unique box, which is pretty rad. Wish we had that when we were freshmen!

The student bookstore has air conditioning, and you can always just hang out there if you need a chill place to hang out!
As seniors, we work here a little on weekends, which is pretty cool. But when we were First Years, we used to come here just to hang out, like, all day every day. Literally.
